Xander Lub

Xander Lub holds the Chair Experience and Service Design at Saxion University of Applied Sciences, Hospitality Business School. He combines this with a research/teaching position at the VU University in Amsterdam for the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration. His main research focus is on the understanding of the interplay between users and context, which translates into three areas of research: experience & service design, hospitality experience and organizational behavior.

Xander holds a MSc degree in Psychology from Leiden University and a PhD in Organizational Behavior from Tilburg University. He started his career as a lecturer at University of Auckland, New Zealand. On his return, Xander worked as a senior lecturer and coordinator of consultancy projects at Hotelschool The Hague. He also was a member of the initial research centre at Hotelschool The Hague and took a leading role in a EU-funded research project on training and development practices in the hospitality industry. In 2007, Xander became a Research Programme Manager at Saxion Hospitality Business School, where he helped found a Research Centre on Hospitality. Key areas of research involved generational differences in the hospitality workforce, and their impact on work attitudes as well as guest journey research.

Throughout the years, Xander has combined his teaching and research with industry consultancy, and he is particularly interested in applied research that leads to increased knowledge & innovation for both industry, students and teachers, as well as the academic community. He has published a range of (awarded) articles and book chapters and is a regular Speaker at conferences, as well as a Reviewer for a range of hospitality and business journals . Moreover, he has regularly held visiting lectures at renowned institutes such as Rotterdam School of Management, Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne, Nyenrode Business School and Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh.
